Most of your adult life you have done what you can to avoid pregnancy and now when you finally feel ready to have a baby, it seems a lot harder than you thought it would be. Trying for a baby can feel like a very lonely time. Many couples decide not to tell anyone they are trying for a baby as they don’t want the constant questions and added pressure. Some couples fall pregnant straight away while others can take months even years to conceive. If things aren’t happening as quickly as you hoped, it is important to remember you are not alone. The NHS recommend that if a couple have been trying for a baby for over a year and not conceived naturally then it is a good idea to pay a visit to your GP. Sometimes these things do take time and there could be a number of reasons why you haven’t managed to conceive naturally. Your GP will be able to give you and your partner a quick health check and talk through your options and if required run some tests.
