At 8 months old your baby will be very active and suddenly into everything!
Baby will have developed a real sense of curiosity as they continue to explore the world around them. Sleep Your baby may not sleep as well as they were at the moment, don’t worry this is not a sign of things to come, but most likely a sleep regression which may happen at varies stages including around 8 months.
At 8 months your baby is very busy developmentally and it is likely to be this that causes a disruption to their sleep.
The good news is it doesn’t affect all babies and if you are experiencing it, then it shouldn’t last more than 3-6 weeks. Communication By 8 months you may have heard the most amazing sound, baby calling you ma-ma!
They will also be able to understand a few basic words like bye-bye and milk as well as respond to some simple commands, like waving.
They will also be understanding what they like and don’t like which they may well vocalise or at least demonstrate when you offer them their least favourite food. Movement Baby may well be crawling by now and will suddenly be into everything; with one of their favourite activities, emptying out your change bag, just make sure the nappy cream is out of reach!
If you haven’t already, then now is a good time to baby-proof your home. Feeding You may have started increasing baby’s meals to three a day around now, as well as offering them milk after their meal.
As they start becoming more vocal, they may be letting you know what foods they like and don’t like.
Keep trying with the new foods, even if they seem not to like them at first as it can take up to 10 tries or more for your baby to get use to a new flavour or texture.
You may also find they enjoy it one day and then not the next – this is completely normal, just keep offering it and they will get use to it in their own time. You – 8 Months Post-Partum Have you had your teeth checked recently?
Don’t forget to take advantage of the free dental care which gives you free dental treatment up to 12 months post birth, so book yourself in for a quick check-up.
You may also start to see that dark line down your stomach lighten around now if you had one during pregnancy.
The linea nigra was caused by hormones during your second trimester and if not faded already, will likely start to fade during this month.
