Your baby continues to develop at great speed and is currently developing their final set of kidneys this week, (they have got through 3 sets already) ready to produce wee.
Talking of wee, have you found yourself spending more time on the toilet lately? We’ll take a look at the reason for that in a minute, but first back to baby. Baby Baby is now about 1cm head to bottom, similar to a blueberry and is starting to look less like a tadpole but slightly more alien like.
The main reason for this is their head is growing at a faster rate than the rest of their body to make room for their brain which is already developing.
Their arm buds are growing, and the ends have flattened out, like a spatula, which will become their hands. Mum Your womb continues to grow (currently the size of a lemon), making space for your wombmate and is pushing down on your bladder, resulting in more trips to the loo.
Add to that you are probably drinking more than usual as a greater volume of blood is circulating around your body you will therefore find yourself spending more time in the bathroom than you would like – particularly if you are suffering from morning sickness too! Oh, the joys of pregnancy... it will get better.
